We at WindRestrictor® are God-fearing people. But, like everyone else, we have a side of us that likes to get a little over the edge. This Friday we do just that by unleashing three Mopar glowplates for people who like to get wild. I'm talking about the Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300.
What do we know about these cars? Are they all flash and no dash? Are they able to burn another muscle car off the stoplight? A flash in the pan or a car with a rich history? Well, we'll find out today.
I'm going to lay it out for all these sexy Chrysler cars today! We're giving you all the who, what, when, where, why's and how's. So, buckle up and go for a ride with me through the history of the Charger, Challenger, and Chrysler 300.

The Dodge Charger is a car that has a rich history. Far from being the new kid on the block, this vehicle has been around for over 50 years. Now in it's seventh generation, the charger remains a force for those who like cars that perform like they look, tough.
In 1966 the First Generation Charger was introduced to the scene. It was a two-door fastback and it was intermediate sized. It had a V8 318 cu in 5.2 liter engine. Even larger engines were optional. As you can tell from the beginning, it was all about ripping up the roads!
The Second Generation was introduced in 1968. It was based on the Chrysler B platform and the sales started increasing substantially. It didn't perform as expected in race leagues, like NASCAR, so in response a more aerodynamic model came about in the form of the Charger 500.
Introduced in 1971, the Third Generation was modified to meet emissions and safety regulations. An increase in sales was evident when Dodge eliminated the Coronet. Leaving the Charger as their only two-door intermediate-sized premier model.
Rolling off the assembly line in 1975, the Fourth Generation was debuted. Trying to gain ground in the luxury car market, the Charger was restyled. At this time a Daytona model was introduced with stripes that extended through the length of the car.
Yet, another totally restyled Charger came to life in 1981. The Fifth Generation morphed into a subcompact hatchback. A turbo model was available, but only with a manual transmission. Also, in 1983, a Shelby Charger was offered. This was the last model available it seemed because the next generation model didn't take shape for nineteen more years.
Finally, in 2006 the Sixth Generation came to be. This generation's model was a four-door sedan and was built using the Chrysler LX platform. It resembled the models from the 60s and 70s. It came with the choice of V6 or V8 engine and it came with an SRT8 equipped with a 6.1 L Hemi engine.
Now for the present! In 2011 the Seventh Generation was introduced. With new exterior and interior, the Seventh had major advances and brisk sales. Driver visibility was improved and so was performance. A new Pentastar was put into place which replaces the previous V6. The '12, '13, and '14 models were the years when the Super Bee was available. Accessories and badges that harkened back to the 60's and 70's were made available on this model.
The Challenger, like the Charger, has a pretty storied history of it's own! It's been around for quite a few years and has quite a few fans! Let's go through the generations all the way to today to check it out!
The limited edition Silver Challenger was made available to the public in 1959. It was made only in silver (of course) and in a two-door body style. Interestingly when the name rights lapsed, Studebaker made it's own Challenger model in 1964. Although, none of these are considered First Generation.
The First Generation was the 1970 model that was made available to the public in 1969. This classic car was one of Chrysler's E-Body cars. The other one was the Plymouth Barracuda. It had an ungodly amount of options and trim variations to compete directly with the Mustang and Camaro. The exterior design was done by the same man who did the 1966 Charger. If you see any comparable features, this is the reason.
The Second Generation came around in late '77 for the '78 model year. It was, in fact, an early version of the Mitsubishi Galant Lambda. It was the exact same vehicle as the Plymouth Sapporo except in color and trim. It was sold until '83 and was replaced by the Conquest and the Daytona. Such an untimely demise for a great model.
Just when you thought it was over! In 2008 the newest Challenger was made available to the public. Many design ideas were taken from the 1970 Challenger R/T. This was going to be a pony car that reminded you of the old days! The Third Generation outdoes itself in quality and design. From the 2010 Dodge Detonator Challenger R/T Classic to today's SRT Demon, it's hard to find a better guilty pleasure!
While it might not have the storied history of the Charger or Challenger, the 300 is a car that makes you wish you were driving it! The First Generation wasn't until the mid 2000's, but it burst on the scene like a one-of-a-kind should! Let's go in depth with the short but storied history!
First Generation Chrysler 300s arrived in 2005 and was produced until 2010. It's a interpretation of the Chrysler C-300 for modern times. The styling was very similar to the '98 Chrysler Chronos concept car. This is where the chrome accents, tortoise shell finished steering wheel, and the shifter knob derived from. While many models and variations were available (including a station wagon), my favorite was the SRT8 equipped with a 6.1 liter Hemi. Can you say 0-60 in 4.9 seconds? Yalza!
The Second Generation arrived in 2011. It was somewhat redesigned as a four-door notchback. Also, available as a five-door station wagon. Some changed included were; the windshield was more raked, bi-xenon HID projector headlights, daytime LED running strips within the headlights, and new LED taillights. Several special edition were available as well. The 300s Alloy Editions, 300 Motown Edition, 300s Glacier Edition, Mopar '12, and the John Varatos Edition (kinda cool to have an edition named after some guy) were all examples.
