  • Ten Most Viewed Automotive Sites

WindRestrictor® has met a lot of our great customers in person at auto shows across the nation, some have also come to visit us at our facilities in Dallas,Tx for an installation, a sale, or just to say hello. However, by a large margin, most of our sales and interactions have been on the web.

The internet has made the world a lot smaller. Without the use of forums and social media, speaking to people in Germany about etching, or Australia concerning the right illumination for their particular paint job might not be a possibility.

Naturally, there's thousands (maybe millions) of websites devoted to automotive sales, accessory sales, devotion to a make or model etc. Allow me to take this time to present to you the cream of the crop when car-related websites are discussed. I must admit after researching, I didn't expect the top spot to be what it was.

    10. MotorTrend

MotorTrend first became a magazine in September of 1949. That means as a company they've been around for 65+ years. While some companies withered away with the internet age, MotorTrend's coverage of car news expanded with its website. While the ten spot is nothing to sneeze at, I expected it to be higher. It gets a total of 4,000,000 unique views every month.

    9. CarMax

Are you buying or selling a car? Well, look no further than one of the biggest websites on the planet, Carmax. Carmax is the United States's biggest seller of used cars. Being on that pedestal in a nation that burns the second most fossil fuels globally is quite a feat. Carmax joins the list with a very strong 4,500,000 unique views monthly.  With numbers like that, how could it not be the biggest used auto seller?

    8. Jalopnik

Jalopnik is an automotive blog known for its loyal following and its brilliant off-the-wall writers. How off-the-wall? Some of the topics from their latest updates include; " This Tiny Plastic Car Has No Reverse Gear But Can Do Backwards Donuts Anyway" and "Toyota Invested $350,000 Into A Flying Car That's Actually A Drone". If you want "different" in your car websites, this is the place for you. They get number eight with a solid 5,000,000 unique views monthly.

    7. CarGurus

CarGurus is a rather young company that's only been around since 2006. For it to come in at number seven is quite a feat indeed! 'Gurus is sort of a combination site with research, used cars, new cars, values and even a questions section for people who need specific information. It finds its place in our countdown with 5,250,000 unique monthly views.

    6. AutoBlog

AutoBlog is our highest blog on the list coming in at an impressive number six. To think blogs have only been a "thing" since the late 90s, they're now two of the most visited automotive sites on the internet. Now owned by internet pioneer AOL, AutoBlog continues to crank out content with a readership of 5,500,000 unique monthly views. Expect some of the finest writing and articles on this, the king of car blog views.

    5. Edmunds

A treasure trove of information on used and new cars, Edmunds comes in at number fire on our top ten list. Edmunds started out as a publication in 1966. Moving from CD-Rom and now unto the worldwide web, it garners 14,000,000 unique views a month. That's quite a jump from six to five! With the amount of information and first-class content, the amount of viewers makes perfect sense.

    4. Cars.Com

Truth be told, this would've been my pick for number one if I was a betting man. has the most coveted website addresses in existence, and I'd think this alone would make it a lock for the top five. Just this address is probably worth more than $1,000,000. It carries quite hefty expectations, and Cars delivers with information about cars for sales, specs, reviews, and repairs. It has a unique viewership of 14,500,000 a month.

    3. Kelley Blue Book

Want to know how much your 1995 Ford Mustang is worth? Kelley Blue Book was first published in 1926 (over ninety years ago) and grown to be the go to guide for automotive prices since. Now owned by AutoTrader, their website comes in at 15,000,000 unique views. Their transition to online happened in 1995 and continued its strong tradition in automotive pricing excellence still carried on today. Speaking of AutoTrader...

    2. AutoTrader

Owning the number company on our list wasn't enough, AutoTrader comes in at number two as well. This British online automotive powerhouse has sections for buying, selling, trading, research and reviews, finding local dealers, loans and even insurance. Can you say one stop shop? It comes in with 15,500,000 unique views a month. Combined with Kelley Blue Book, that's over 30,000,000 unique views a month. To say they're doing a good job at cornering the market is a massive understatement.

    1. Yahoo Autos

I literally had no idea. But, it makes a lot of sense. Yahoo! has been an internet juggernaut for about as long as I knew what the internet was. Having a an automotive news portion paper-clipped to the number six site on all of the web is hard to top. I'll also be the first to admit that the articles are top notch. It comes in at the number one position with 25,000,000 unique views. When you say Yahoo!, apparently people still listen.

  • Top Sellers 2017...So Far

WindRestrictor® is a company that makes its money off of motorized vehicles. Convertibles, coupes, foreign and domestic. Heck, now even motorcycles! It of course is of special interest to us to see what cars are moving the needle as far as sales go.

The list I'm going to show is only a few weeks old, so it give a pretty accurate portrait of what's going on right now in the automotive world. Notice how cars overall are on the decline (which has been the case for a while now), while trucks and SUVs are selling robustly.

While we don't have vehicles on this blog post you'll see on our list of models we produce for, remember we have a Universal Glowplate, Universal Door Sills, puddle lights, and Illuminated Wheel Rings that will fit many different types of vehicles. Let's check out the hottest sellers.

    1) Ford F-Series P/U

The Ford F-Series is once again the leader of the pack in 2017. While falling a little bit behind (down -0.2), the F-Series is still selling well with a total of 70,657 sold. Ford F-Series was also the best selling vehicles in 2016. It seems its momentum isn't slowing down anytime soon. With great models like the one pictured above (Ford F-250 Super Duty), the rest of the pack sure have some catching up to do.

    2) Ram P/U

Coming in at number two are Ram Pick Ups. The Ram is still a good way off from our number one with 43,321 units sold. Although, it had a respectable sales increase of +7.6. Nothing to sneeze at. Chrysler is certainly happy with this fine truck, but I can't help but think major changes are on the way to solidly challenge for for the number one spot.

    3) Chevy Silverado C/K P/U

Some good news for American automakers, the third vehicle on our list is also a member of the big three US auto manufacturers like the first two. The Chevy Silverado comes in at number three with a total of 40,154 units sold. Not too far from number two. It seems the fight between two and three is much closer than the race between one and two. Making it very possible for the Silverdo to move up a spot before the year's end.

    4) Honda CR-V

Our first imported vehicle, as well as our first SUV, is the Honda CR-V. The CR-V came in with a sales total of 32,671. While a pretty distant third, it posted a sales increase of +13.0. Not coming in first hurts a lot less when you're putting up numbers better than the year before. Bravo, Honda.

    5) Toyota RAV4

Another foreign built SUV rounds out our number five spot, the Toyota RAV4. The RAV4 sold 31,757 units which is behind our number four by less than 1,000 units. As you'll look at the next few posts, you'll notice its a tight race for the middle spots. Like the CR-V, the RAV4 had a sales gain from last year at this time of +5.3.

    6) Toyota Camry

Another Toyota comes in at number 6, the Camry. The Camry sales were very close to the RAV4 sales with 31,428 units sold. While having two vehicles so high up on the list is something Toyota should certainly be happy about, their sales loss of -7.27 is disappointing to say the least. This follows the trend of Americans moving away from cars to trucks and SUVs.

    7) Honda Civic

The Honda Civic shows up at the seven spot, also being our second import car in our list. Does anyone buy American cars anymore? The Civic is a long running model in the Honda stable and it sold 31,211 units. That's only a few hundred less than our number six, but still not the tightest race in our list. Also, like the next spot before it, it didn't sell as well as last year. It slipped to a -11.7 sales loss.

    8) Toyota Corolla

The Toyota Corolla is our 8th car and the third car Toyota has on the list. If you can't take 1, 2, or 3, taking 5, 6 and 8 isn't a bad consolation prize. The Corolla was also very close to taking the 7th spot with 31,104 cars sold. The 7 to 8 race was only separated by a little over 100 vehicles. That's officially the smallest margin between two spots on our list.

    9) Nissan Rogue

The SUVs have reentered the list with the Nissan Rogue at nine. It's Nissan's first entry into our list with 27,386 units sold. Decent numbers, but what's more encouraging is the +18.2 percent sales increase from '16. If you have to have one vehicle in the top ten, make sure its one on the rise.

    10) Honda Accord

Our last entrant into the top 10 is the Honda Accord. The Honda entered its second car into the countdown with 26,938 units sold. While having two in the top ten is a good thing, their sales loss of -14.6 is not. The auto industry giveth and taketh away.

    All The Rest

Let's end the blog with numbers eleven through twenty. While I won't highlight every model like one through ten, I'll list their number, units sold (first from '17 and then from '16) and gain or loss percentage.

    Here they are:

    11. Ford Escape 25,637 23,920 +7.2

    12. Chevrolet Cruze 21,317 14,153 +50.6 (what an impressive gain from 2016!)

    13. Chevrolet Equinox 20,655 20,607 +0.2

    14. Nissan Altima 20,263 28,484 -28.9 (pretty disappointing loss)

    15. Nissan Sentra 20,255 19,145 +5.8

    16. Ford Explorer 19,771 20,283 -2.5

    17. Jeep Grand Cherokee 18,877 17,768 +6.2

    18. Jeep Wrangler 18,841 18,840 +0.0

    19. Toyota Highlander 17,981 15,037 +19.6

    20.  GMC Sierra 17,400 20,531 -15.3

This list speaks volumes (really tells the whole story of cars in America right now). American trucks rules, American cars drool, and imports run the SUV game. Here's to hoping competition makes for better vehicles for all involved. The U.S. consumer wins!

We were really pleased to show off our new design for the BMW Z4. We kept the mood going with some great electronic music to show case this accessory for the Euro roadster. It became the "it car" because of the James Bond movie out around the same time of production. Making a classic accessory was only fitting for this imported beauty.

    WindRestrictor®:XLR Event San Antonio!

While many companies just hang out in their office hoping for more sales, we're out there shaking hands with our great customers. That handsome devil in the beginning is our CEO Steve. Steve was more than happy to meet Cadillac XLR owners from all around country in San Antonio. It was more than worth the drive. This was the first of our videos from four years ago.

A big part of our company is our service to Corvette customers. We're proud to make models for the C5, C6, and C7. This is our first Mazda Miata wind blocker/wind deflector we produced and marketed and we were thrilled with the response! Our latest version for the MX5 has been a great seller for us as well, so you can say Mazda customers have shown us a lot of love!

New Mustang Windscreen Lighted Windblocker Innovative Wind Deflector Official Licensed Product Ford

I think I speak for all of us when I say this was a huge moment for our company!

Mini Cooper Roadster NEW Accessory Lighted wind deflector Windrestrictor® With Graphics!

Skipping back across the pond, we were excited to start producing products for the fabulous Mini Cooper. Mini fans are some of the most loyal to their brand, and we knew they'd love a WindRestrictor® brand set of products just for them. We like to shake hands and have some laughs with our buyers. If you ever see our booth at your car show, come by and see us. We'd love to meet you.

When you have WindRestrictor® brand products for Euro heavies like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Mini Cooper...Leaving out Jaguar would be a sin. The F-Type is a luxury sports car that's in a class all its own. They look great off the line, but unbelievable with our wind deflectors!

We're proud to say we've made accessories available for some of the finest convertibles and coupes. So why not add motorcycles to the mix? When we saw the demand for Polaris Slingshots, we had to move forward for this mod-loving group of motorcycle enthusiasts. Some of our most innovative designs and creative graphics have come to fruition for these awesome trikes!

WR Crew on the way to show in Vegas!

You can see our seriousness about customer satisfaction and quality in all of our products. Let's face it though, you can't be serious all the time. Sometimes, we have to cut loose! This was on our way to the 50th anniversary of Mustang event in Las Vegas. We had a great time, moved some products, and met great dealers and customers!

So, here we are in 2017! We spotlighted a great customer and was happy to do so. That title means so much more to me though. We've come so far from a company that made a specialty product for Solstice and Sky to an industry leader with customers all around the world. What a trip its been, and I'm glad I've gotten a front row seat to some of WindRestrictor's® greatest moments.

  • Art Cars!

At WindRestrictor® we often talk about how we turn your car into art or how your convertible will be the star of your car show. While we believe we prove what we say, there's a few people out there who really go the extra mile.

Some folks fight over Mustang versus Camaro, BMW versus Mercedes-Benz, or Honda versus Mazda. However, there's some who battle about who has the most outrageous ideas when dressing up their vehicle. Should I use antlers or bull horns for my hood ornament? Would army men or action figures look better on the trunk? Should the roof be layered with beads or fake gems?

In this installment of our blog I'd like to point out some of the most outrageous rolling museums you can see at car shows, parades, or just driving down a busy street. Whether you're a domestic Corvette driver or a foreign Jaguar owner, everyone loves a good freak show on wheels! Let's get to the art cars!

    Swamp Mutha

Our first contestant is a marsh flavored sedan from Texas, Swamp Mutha. The paint job recreates the swamp so much, you can almost feel the mud in your toes from standing close to it. Also, how can you not respect plastic ducks, rabbits, and alligators? This is an owner who went all out to make you feel like you're in Cajun country.

This is the Vochol. The Vochol is about as artistic as you can get when it comes to cars and beads. How many beads? How about over 2.5 million beads? The craftsmanship behind this endeavor is on par with other Huichol art you'll see throughout the Americas among native people. Whatever the original reason for this project, rest assured that a very talented and patient person was behind making this modern marvel.

Hearses by themselves can be frightening vehicles. Now take the most seen car in horror movies and add a Gothic Church replica on the back? That's exactly what you get with Cathedral. This thriller on rubber was built by artist Rebecca Caldwell. Most crazy body jobs are done by 250lb men in a greasy garage somewhere. Rebecca shows that women can get just as outrageous (and frightening) as any big dude with a wrench.

Let's stay on the subject of scary, shall we? This giant skull shaped vehicle will more than get your attention. Metacarskull is the creation of member of the Texas Wheelbarrow Association. This proves that Texans love crazy vehicle creations, and people in their wheelbarrow association have far too much time on their hands! Whatever the case, cool creation for sure.

Have any of you seen a Mad Max movie? Because this certainly looks like something out of that series of films. Vanadu is the brainchild of Clark Bedforde. Clark easily wins best hood ornament, a small statue of English poet John Milton. If you're decorating the front of your car, how do you top that?

That's Antti Rahko next to his interesting creation, Finnjett. Finjett is an old Mercedes-Benz limousine with a quite a bit added to it. For starters seven rear-view mirrors! Which I suppose is necessary with the added ton or so to this classic vehicle. Antti is a big believer in auto shows and parades so you might have a chance to see the fabled Finnjett in person!

OWL'ways in the ARTISTIC FRAME of Mind

Okay, I need to start off by saying kids these days do not know how good they have it. This colossus of frames was put together by Lovett Elementary Visual Arts Program, teacher Rickey Polidore Jr.  That's right, an elementary art school teacher. When I was in elementary school we were Elmer's gluing pictures of our family to construction paper. That's what passed as art. Needless to say the Lovett students are way luckier than I ever was.

    Yoda Head

How can you not be impressed by a car called the Yoda Head? Possibly more impressive, its a daily driver. Kimi Baintner took her love of Star Wars to a whole new level. Sure, some people dress up like Darth Vader during premieres of Star Wars films. But, turning your Nissan Versa into the head of everyone's favorite green Jedi? That's next level, Kimi. I hail you Queen Nerda the first!

    The Beastie Croonie-Kerploppus-Yalapapus

Okay...Once again...These spoiled kids these days. Yet, another car by a teacher and their class. The Beastie Croonie-Kerploppus-Yalapapus was built by teacher Julon Pinkston and the kids at Frank Black Middle School. This aquatic looking vehicle is a one-of-a-kind car and these children have no idea how lucky they are to have a teacher like Julon. I jest about how lucky they are, but love the creativity shown here.

    Love 23

That's Kathleen Pearson next to one of the sassiest wagon's on the road, the Love 23. Where do I start? I see flowers, fruit, smiley faces and tons of colorful plastic pieces that I can't make heads or tails of. But, that's not to insult Ms. Pearson. The patience shown and the color scheme planning are both monumental feats. Quite a look for what was the soccer mom's car of choice before SUVs were a thing.

    Char Car

This being the final car highlighted, I wanted to finish big. The Char Car is definitely that. Very big. This monstrous iron demon was created by artist Mark "Scrapdaddy" Bradford. Looking at this vehicle, you can see how he got his name. What an immaculate sculpture and a head turning vehicle. Bravo Mark!

    Wrapping It Up!

Corvette, Camaro, Chrysler Crossfire, Mustang, Saturn Sky, Pontiac Solstice, Daewoo, Opel GT, Cadillac XLR, Mercedes-Benz SLK, BMW Z4, Jaguar F-Type, Porsche Boxster, Mazda Miata, Honda S2000, and even for the Polaris Slingshot! Don't see your vehicle? No problem! We now have a Universal Glowplate that fits many modern cars.

  • Celebs and Corvettes

WindRestrictor® is proudly GM licensed. When you have official legal permission to manufacture products for their amazing line of vehicles, why wouldn't you crank out products for the legendary Corvette!?!

In this edition we look at some famous stars and their Vettes! Its a marriage made in Hollywood and General Motors manufacturing centers across the world. You'll notice Corvettes from across the board, classic to brand spanking new. Let's check out who's riding what!

    Jay Leno

Can I make a famous people and cars post without mentioning Jay Leno? It seems that Leno owns every legendary vehicle ever created almost. So, why would he not own a stable of Vettes?

A '63 Stingray, a Z06, and a ZR1 are among the vehicles in his collection. Who knows if it ends there though? Jay is such an avid collector he might have three more before I end this blog post.

    Bob Weir

Another '63 Corvette Stingray owner is the legendary Grateful Dead member, guitarist Bob Weir.  When not writing psychedelic melodies Weir likes taking his '63 out for cruises around his palatial estate. A musician who is nearly 70 years old, he's still living the life of sold out shows and hot convertibles.

    Greg Allman

One more spry young musician driving around in a Vette is none other than Greg Allman. This pioneer of Southern Rock is shown here right next to his drop-top C6. Another musician pushing nearly 70, Greg shows you're never too young to enjoy a great roadster whipping around your hair in the wind.

So, it seems like the youngest guy on the list so far, might have the oldest car. That's Will-I-Am, the architect behind the hip-hop group The Black Eyed Peas. Right next to will is a custom C1. Mixing classic and brand new, his Corvette is said to even have a dock for his I-Pad! Being a hit producer certainly has its advantages.

    Sir Paul McCartney

There's the famous Beetle turned British Knight in his custom C5. Paul could probably buy a large chunk of General Motors with all the dough he's raked in from penning some of the most famous songs in music history. Its nice to see him enjoying a sports car owned by mere mortals like ourselves.

    Randy Savage

There's the Macho Man in his very macho ride, a bright yellow C4. Randy tragically passed a few years back and is missed by professional wrestling fans the world over. It only made sense that the man who loved glitz and excitement owned one of the most showy, exciting cars anywhere, a Vette! Randy is gone, but never forgotten.

    Ian Ziering

Ian is known in the past for the teen drama Beverly Hills 90210. More recently he's know for the legendary cinematic classic, Sharknado. When not battling flying sea creatures or breaking the heart of young actresses Ian rips up California streets in jet black C7 Stingray. You need something fast when trying to outrun the fame Sharknado has brought him!

    Ming Na-Wen

Okay, I'll admit I have a bit of a crush on Ming. Ming in my estimation is the loveliest woman over 50 in Hollywood. You read that right, she's 53 years old! This beauty drives a beauty too, a C7 Stingray that's fire engine red. How lucky is her husband?  Something lovely in the garage AND in the house!

    George Clooney

This famous actor has been is some classic movies and likes his cars the same way. George Clooney is driving a '58 V-8 C1 convertible, one of the many toys of this Academy Award nominated actor. Besides being in several big bank films, George is famous for his relationships with a load of Hollywood starlets. It only makes sense that this bad boy would want to be seen with another beauty, his antique Corvette!

Okay, I'm about to give away my age here. When I was younger, nothing was bigger than Guns N' Roses. Sure, Axl's screeching and temper tantrums garnered some headlines, but Slash's high powered lead guitar is what drove all those classic melodies. Slash is here with a 1966 Stingray and a classic Les Paul guitar. Off the top of my head, I can't think of two objects that would make such a cool guy look even cooler.

    Guy Fierri

Famous TV chef Guy Fierri is known for his insane cooking skills and his crazy style. Guy is seen here with his yellow and black '07 C6 convertible. Guy is ripping up the roads,  while fattening America. He might have an up-in-your-face personality, but seems like genuinely down-to-earth guy. Good to see the good guys win one, then take off into the night in the ultimate wagon.

    Sylvester Stallone

Yo, Adriiiiiiiiiiiiiian! Sly Stallone is known the world over for some butt-kicking action and some finely acted dramatic scenes. Sometimes, in the same movie. Sly can kick butt on the road too, with this heavily modded '68 C3. The Corvette is rumored to have 660 hp, vintage a/c, and a custom roll bar among several other goodies. Being a famous actor for almost forty years definitely has its perks!

    Holly Madison

Being Hugh Hefner's ex certainly has its advantages! Holly Madison's C1 is a dead ringer for George Clooney's Vette down to the paint job. Holly Madison has one beautiful modification that Clooney doesn't have however, Holly herself! No, accessory says sexy like Ms. Madison. Take that West Coast Customs!

    Bruce Willis

Closing out the stars for this blog is none other than Mr. Diehard, Bruce Willis. Bruce is looking menacingly from his 1967 C2. The star of over 50 hit films can certainly afford such a fine automotive antique. Bruce is about to star in a remake of the Charles Bronson film, "Death Wish". Yet, another classic Bruce will have his hands on.

  • Pimp My Miata!

The Mazda Miata MX-5 is well known in the tuner community as being a go to vehicle. We at WindRestrictor® recognized this and decided it would only be fitting to update our current Miata model for 2017.

In this blog post I'd like to point out some of the more eccentric and cool styles that have been altered, modified, and/or "pimped" by proud Mazda owners. I promise this will be entertaining. There's little more stylish than an imaginative Miata owner! Let's see what people have come up...

Cow spots? Why not? This owner mixed his love for Miatas with his affinity for Cows. Other people just see cattle as potential hamburgers, but this owner sought to turn their skin into a perfect idea for design.

Will it be a definite winner in the next big automotive show? Maybe, not. Is it creative and a lot of fun though? Absolutely so!

    Miata Monster

A little more aggressive than the cow, this Mx-5 monster looks like it could attack at any moment! The redish-orange lighting really shows off the "eyes" and "teeth" of this scary predator tuner.

Again showing how creative Miata owners can be, this person had an idea that would be perfect on a Halloween car show. Not bad for an owner of a "cute" little convertible roadster.

    Off Roadin'

Leave it to the guys from Top Gear to turn a Miata into a vehicle fit for a field of wet mud! This Mazda got jacked up and was made off-road ready by the innovative show's hosts.

Not sure how the episode ended, but I'd think that fun was had by the episode's presenters as well as the fans at home. It just goes to show that Mx-5s can be at home as much in the mud, as tearing up a highway.

    Double 0 Mx-5

Did someone turn this Japanese car into a European roadster? The chrome gives extra definition to an already stylish ride as someone decided to add a number of classy modifications to their Mazda convertible.

The hood ornament, added lights up front, and lining by the roof and hood scream Bond...James Bond. Maybe, we'll see the latest big British actor running around in her majesty's secret service in a Miata trying to save the world as we know it!

    Someone Please Call 911

I'd like to think in my (or anyone's for that matter) neighborhood function beats out form in the way of our fire vehicles. However, if you're going to go in style ...Why not get a Miata Mazda and go all out?

Someone grabbed an Mx-5 and made it every tuner loving fire fighter's dream. While I'm not sure if its just a Photoshop or an actual service vehicle, I admire the design of such a hot ride!

    Stretched Tuner

Okay, someone took their Mx-5 and made it as long as two roadsters! If you want to show off your engine, this would definitely be the way to go. If you want to protect it from the elements, not so much.

It does look like a piece is missing doesn't it? Maybe, this is a before picture? While I'm unsure of the intention behind it, again I have to admit the imagination taken to pull off a feat like this is extraordinary.

    How About The Inside?

Okay, we've gone through a few variations of what can be done on the outside of the Miata. How about we check out an inside? There's a lot of goodies here. Where should I start?

The skulls wood paneling? The chromed out floor mat? The lights around the radio and the gauges? If this vehicle is half as appealing on the outside as the inside, you've got yourself a certified head turner. It just goes to show the Mx-5 cares about interior as much as exterior.

    The Retro Look

Doesn't this look like you were wrong about Miatas being around in the 1950s? You weren't. A creative Mx-5 owner popped the front off and got super retro with this design.

The expanded grill, orange headlights, added pipes, and yellow lights make it look like a throwback from your dad's era. Although, not a pure classic; if this one pulled up on to an antique car show I'm not sure anyone would complain!

    Uh, The Wheels Are...

Are those Mazda wheels on right? Hard to say on this gray Mx-5 beauty. Unsure whether or not the tire guy is malicious, they certainly change the look of this vehicle.

What really grabs your attention though is the chrome rims. Those beauties are shown off perfectly on those particular wheels. Some do body, some do interior, and still some are rim aficionados. It takes all kind I guess!

Having a great paint job is important to anyone modifying their Miata. They take great efforts to wash their vehicle to show off the inventive colored paint jobs you often see on these tuned rides.

This owner took it a few steps further. How about a car mirror job? This car looks like a disco-ball from a 70s hot spot frequented by John Travolta. While not sure if this is street legal, you're certain to get people's attention. Especially, on a sunny day or a city full of lights!

Okay, some people have paint jobs that make you say, "Wow"! Other paint jobs just have you standing there staring in awe. The latest entry in this blog leaves you stunned.

As what can only be described as a painter who lives someplace where substances that were once illegal aren't anymore, this Miata looks like a Grateful Dead fan finally found the design of their dreams. The hood, the trunk and the sides all scream far out!

  • WindRestrictor® Brand Vs. The Rest - other convertible wind deflectors

At WindRestrictor® we often speak of our superior design, safety, and performance of our quality wind blockers/wind deflectors. Without proper comparison however, maybe our customers don't realize what's out there?

There's several that are available in this market, and we'd like to explore other options to our brand. I'll take time to point out subtle differences that we feel makes a huge difference overall, when purchasing a wind stopping accessory for your convertible car. Remember, everything mentioned in this article is my own opinion and not necessarily the opinion of WindRestrictor®. So, let's get on with it!

    Safely Harnessed?

You've got your brand spanking new $50 wind smasher attached to your high quality Polaris Slingshot and are ready to show off to all your trike buddies at the latest meetup. That is if its still affixed to your bike by Saturday...

Many companies don't take adequate time to properly engineer a harnessing system to fit your fine vehicle. WindRestrictor® has gone through many installation methods until we finally settled on our state-of-the-art system that has shown to keep your 'Restrictor firmly attached to your vehicle.

Not only is it an issue of damage to your newly bought car toy, its also an issue of safety. Can you imagine your wind blocker flying off the back of your car on a freeway? Exactly, a disaster waiting to happen.

Our last point in this is style and design. I've seen deflectors that STRAP IN (you read that correctly) to your luxury vehicle instead of discreetly anchoring.  Can you imagine having a high-end ride like a Mercedes-Benz, BMW, or Jaguar with unsightly straps webbing your car's interior? Neither can we.

Here's an example of our work on a dealer showroom floor.

    Shake, Rattle and Roll!

So, you're glad you finally got an accessory to stop all the noisy airflow invading your convertible's cabin. The only issue now is one sound has been replaced by another. You hear that rattling? That's coming from your new wind blocking mod you got from the guy that makes them in his garage with a jig-saw and places a piece door trim around the edges to cover up all the jagged edges. At WindRestrictor® you'll find the noise, shaking and rattling a thing of the past. Our mounting systems are designed by Professional Engineers with decades of experience in mechanical engineering. I can't count the number of times we've had customers drive up to our facility with one of the cheaply made deflectors barely hanging on their car asking us to remove it and install our patented WindRestrictor®. It's no wonder when we type in "Rattling Wind Deflector" over 60,000 results come up on google. Here's a sample!  Most of these issues can be traced back to the individual that's selling them out of the Northwest so please use caution when dealing with anyone that's not a reputable manufacturing company.

    rattling deflector

    True Art

You don't have to get a laser-etched, custom, lit WindRestrictor® brand wind blocker when you business with us. We have a wide array of selections in the way of car models and styles. But, isn't it nice to have this option?

If you're a car show guy or gal, we're your company. If you're someone who likes to show your stuff on an early evening in the summer, we're your company. If you bought your vehicle to show off a little on your way from point a to point b, we're your company.

Sure, we have tons of reasons to purchase from us. From our customer service, to our high-engineering, to our timely shipping. But, we know the main reason we're well known; its your option to create a masterpiece.

Have an idea from your car club, sports team, business, place of worship, etc. ? No, problem! Our art department will get with you and create an image to your specifications to laser-etch into you new wind blocker/wind deflector. Really, its that easy. Any picture (even a photograph) can be recreated and precisely etched in. No, graphic is too tough for us to tackle.

After you've okayed your latest work of art, many choose to light it up. Our uniquely designed blockers will capture the light perfectly to clearly display your new blockers. Pick one of eight colors, or get one of our Electric Light Kits and show them all off! Its all about options for those tricking out their vehicle, and at WindRestrictor® we have loads to choose from!

Others decorate with stickers and decals. This not only completely blocks your view, eventually they fall off. This is not the case with laser-etching. As long as you own one of our products, it is still clearly visible on the product.

    Warrantied For A Lifetime

We offer a lifetime warranty and we will stand behind it. No funny business. We're the only convertible wind deflector manufacturing company in North America that has a facility and showroom you can visit any time you like. Plus, we have a team of professionals on standby to help with after-sales support.  Few can offer a truly solid deal when using such inferior materials for their product. Think about it...if they're selling a cheaper version why would they want to give you that option?

Be wary of fly by night individuals/companies that offer a great deal on blockers that will turn yellow, scratch easy and even come loose while driving. You deserve the best, and we want to give it to you.

On the rare occasion that you have an issue, contact us and we'll be more than willing to correct the program, replace our WindRestrictor® brand wind blocker, or return your money. Our word is our bond and your guarantee is always in place.

    Community Connections

Some people have websites and social media touting their products, as do we. The thing that sets up apart from many is we have a physical location where you can come on by and visit us. We've met many great people coming through our offices to get their vehicles work on or to just say hi. You always hear or read me say it, family. We try to treat our customers as we want to be treated. Hard to beat that Texas hospitality!

    About Us

    Dream Team

Can't make it to Dallas to say howdy? No problem! We're on the road a lot visiting at various carshows and events around the nation. • Our Models

At WindRestrictor® we take great pride in all the models we offer. What better way to celebrate all our beautiful models, then with beautiful models? It seems as though many of our customers enjoy hot rods and lovely women. Shocking isn't it?

A lot of car shows seem to feature things like bikini contests. So why not blogs? Take a small tour around some of the cars we service and some beautiful women who've graciously decided to be presenters of these fine vehicles. Remember, if you have any concerns, suggestions, or comments you can always email me at the address provided at the end of the blog. Let's get to it!

Well, let's start with an American classic the Corvette! We've been making Corvette WindRestrictor® brand wind blockers for a number of years, and its been quite a ride. Having the fortune to meet many Vette owners across the nation, its hard to run across a more devoted group of owners.

We're happy to make models for the C5, C6, and C7. Our Corvette customers love the fact that we can reproduce GM Licensed logos, as well as our sleek curves and style. Let's keep the GM ball rolling with the Cadillac XLR!

    Cadillac XLR

If you're talking American luxury the first word that comes to mind is Cadillac. So, if you're talking about American luxury convertibles what would you say? You'd say Cadillac XLR! Caddies with 'Vette engines? That's right! These beauties met their demise way too early. Tons of drivers are still out there riding in their XLRs and making those of us who didn't get a chance to buy one jealous as all get out!

Cadillac XLRs were luxury, performance, and style all rolled into one. Very seldom in the car world do you get any combination of two, let alone three of those attributes. Now if you want to stay in the GM frame, but want something a little sportier, you've gotta go with Kappas.

Kappas (Pontiac Solstice and Saturn Sky)

We started off with the Pontiac Solstice and quickly moved to the Saturn Sky (also the Opel GT and Daewoo G2X). Since these discontinued roadsters are where we got our start, they have a very special place in our heart. Their appeal is undeniable and their drivers are loud and proud about their allegiance.

From here we moved on and were happy to work with other vehicle platforms. This sexy two-seater was a great place to start though. Since, we're still talking about GM vehicles let's keep it moving with the Camaro!

Rounding out our roster of GM licensed products is the legendary Camaro. Although not as pricey as Vettes or as rare as Sky and Solstices, it has all the flash of these and any other convertibles on the road. Supersport owners love nothing more than dropping the top and lighting up their WindRestrictor® while they cruise around on a warm summer evening.

Since we're talking about American made vehicles, how can we skip out on another famous American company Ford! If your guess for which model we were going to cover was "Mustang", you're absolutely right.

    Ford Mustang

There's no way we'd add all these GM official licensed models, without mentioning we're officially Ford licensed as well! That's right everyone's favorite pony, The Ford Mustang, is part of our stable! Whether you want a Cobra, a horse, or the Ford oval on your WindRestrictor® we've got you covered!

We have 10 years worth of Mustangs available and make models for the coupe and convertible. If you're proud of your Shelby or just a part-time weekend cruiser, we've got you covered. Now let's take a minute and look at the last of our great American car models...

    Chrysler Crossfireiris

Rounding out the big three of American auto companies is this too hot to handle Chrysler Crossfire. The SRT6 burst onto the scene with much hype that it backed up with sophisticated style and top notch engineering. Crossfire fans expected the best and we were pleased to partner with Chrysler to give them just that.

While the XF and all of our American vehicles give us a strong sense of American pride, we love a lot of imports just as much. Next take a trip with us to the land of the rising sun to check out a classic tuner car!

    Honda S2000

If you're a fan of tuner cars, you know all about the Honda S2000. This convertible is well known among the tuner crowd, and fans of Asian automotive enthusiasts across the globe. With the success of the "Fast and Furious" movies, sales have picked up among imports and the Honda S2000 has definitely benefited from the spike in sales. Long thought of as just a motorcycle company, Honda sets the record straight with the S2K. It can make a fun convertible with the best.

The tuner crowd is known for "pimping their ride", and the S2K crowd can add a great looking WindRestrictor® to turn heads and manufacture awe. We do have another member esteemed member of the Asian market in our ranks and now with a newer model

    Mazda Miata

Well, here it is! Our newest Mazda Miata WindRestrictor®! Mx5 owners can now say goodbye to too much backdraft and hello to one of the hottest automotive modifications on the market. Just like its predecessor, our Miata model comes with all the bells and whistles. If you're looking for form AND function, look no further. if you (or someone you know) owns an MX5 and is looking for a quick way to make it look even more fab, look no further.

These Mazda owners are a fun group, but they aren't the only fun group around. Let's take a look at the European market. We're thrilled to make WindRestrictors® for several car types, so let's gander at another part of the world known for its high quality automobiles.

    Mercedes-Benz SLK

Well, if we're talking cars we have to include German innovation. Mercedes-Benz is legendary in the field of fine automobiles, so when we knew about the SLK we knew this vehicle needed a legendary wind blocker. We're happy to make models for the r170, r171, AND the r172. Teaming with the thousands of people worldwide who want Mercedes quality and an accessory that meets with these standards. The SLK is an international hit, we're happy to be a star in this movie!

The SLK is one the most exquisite German convertibles on the road. However, its not the ONLY exquisite German convertible on the road. Next, we'll take a look at a vehicle that was made popular in part by a 007 movie.

    BMW Z4

You don't need to be a British secret agent to enjoy the super sexy BMW Z4, but James Bond has one! Bavarian Motor Works is a status symbol for the well-to-do, with the Z4 they added a bit of pepper to their recipe for ingenuity. The provocative style coupled with a WindRestrictor® is almost too hot to handle!

This BMW is extravagant enough to guest star in one the most well known franchises in movie history, but alas once again we could stop there. We take a look at another Euro vehicle that rips up the street like a jungle cat!

    Jaguar F-Type

Okay, we've mentioned two of the big three European car companies. Did you think we'd leave out the third? Heck nah! This little beauty is the Jaguar F-Type. Just when you think the Jaguar couldn't top the stellar heights they themselves set, they crank out the F-Type. A convertible that says high fashion the way Dolce and Gabana say it for clothing. This Jag needed only the best when stopping immoderate airflow from entering its cabin. Therefore, WindRestrictor® heeded the call and made a model just for proud Jagsters.

The Jaguar F-type is one of the finest convertibles on four wheels. Makes you wish we'd come up with something for other vehicles. How about motorcycles? Which motorcycle would be deserving of such a wind deflector?

    Polaris Slingshot

We of course know the answer to be Polaris Slingshot! If you have a thing for Slings, you love tricking out your trike. Knowing it was a marriage made in heaven, we took the time out to create a wind blocker for the finest thing on three wheels. Slingshots by themselves attract stares like flies to sugar. Just imagine what a WindRestrictor® on the back of one of these metal masterpieces will do?

The Polaris Slingshot was our first foray into motorcycles, but maybe not our last. We love the spirit of the owners and just the fun of the trike. If you were looking for a fun weekend vehicle give the Sling a try. You won't be disappointed!

  • 50+:The Ford Mustang Story

    First Generation

Very few cars on the road have the classic history the Ford Mustang enjoys. Even fewer have the longevity. Since the very first model rolled off the assembly line, a certain excitement was attached to this American classic. The Mustang is the very definition of American Muscle Car. We at WindRestrictor® would like to take some time and pay homage to this unforgettable automobile and its legion of fans and faithful owners. Please, take a moment with us to explore the history of the spectacular Ford Mustang!

Named after the WWII P-51 Mustang fighter plane, the original Mustangs rolled out in 1964 but were marked as 1965 models. John Najjar co-designed the original prototype with another Ford designer, Philip T. Clark. Now there is some dispute over how The Ford Mustang got its name. Another story is Robert J. Eggert was a Ford market research manager and a quarterhorse breeder. Some claim the name came from his second career. Funny how every legendary tale has many different versions.

Even earlier, Donald N. Frey was appointed over the T-5 project. The T-5 was a two seat roadster had a German Ford Taunus V4 engine underneath the hood. However, the two seat idea was abandoned due to low sales by similar models. Two more seats were added and trunk space was traded in for cabin room. The style was made more sporty based on vehicles like the Corvette and Jaguar E-Type. Voilà, the Mustang we now know and love was born. Now that the stage was set, how would this car do with the fickle American consumer?

After the '64 1/2 (named such because it was marked as a 65 and came out in the later portion of 1964), an actual '65er was born. In 1964, the car sold a respectable 121,538, out of the gate. In 1965, a whopping 559,451. During 1966 it was even higher, 607,568. Can you say sales boom? This was the highest sales for the Mustang, a record still unbroken to this day. They were firmly placed at the top as the "in" automobile. An honor they at least continually competed for throughout the First Generation. The continually evolving car added innovation after innovation. Back up lights, alternators, a V-8 engine, and larger versions. However, the larger vehicles didn't translate into better vehicles according to the American consumer. Ford gambled to attempt to compete with the luxury vehicles of the day. The bet didn't pay off. A steady decline ensued shortly thereafter.

    Second Generation

Considering the oil crisis of the 1970s, now President of Ford Motor Company Lee Iacocca ordered major shrinkage of the Mustang. These new models were somewhat based on the Pinto (my dad drove a pinto, those things were like tanks) and much more compact. This in turn helped it compete favorably with the smaller imports of the day. The new version was dubbed Mustang II. Hatchbacks, T-top roofs, and new trim packages were all part of the then modernized look. The King Cobra and Ghia models were added to further jazz up the line. You'll notice already the tremendous adaptability that Ford engineers had to offer. Sales remained in the 100,000s throughout the era due largely to their incredible ingenuity.

    Third Generation

Now starts the longest of all the Ford Generations. The Third Generation of Mustangs lasted an improbable fourteen years. Starting in 1979 and not ending until 1993. Third Gen Mustangs are aka "Fox Mustangs". Fox was a platform created by Ford for many of their midsize and compact models. You can throw Lincoln and Mercury in that mix as well. The most popular model during this generation was the legendary 5.0. Which was forever immortalized in the song, "Ice, Ice Baby." The end of its run ('93) marked the beginning of CD players being factory optional. Vanilla Ice AND CDs? Just when you thought the Mustang couldn't get more legendary! Too cold!

    Fourth Generation

From 1994-2004 the Fourth Generation Mustangs were the premier Ford sport cars of the time. During this period the GT was reintroduced improved handling and higher stats in the performance category. Even more vaunted was the Ford Cobra (not to be confused with the King Cobra) , developed by Ford's Special Vehicle Team. The Cobra is still legendary in Mustang circles and around the world for lovers of high-powered pony and American Muscle Cars.

    Fifth Generation

The Fifth Generation lasted ten years from 2004 until 2014. Variants include the Shelby Mustang, Boss 302 Mustang, and the Mustang GT/California Special. The Fifth Generation looked like the classics and with a fresh twist known as retro-futurism. Also, known for its rear-wheel-drive platform, these models were evolutionary yet let you look back at a time when American Muscle ruled the roost. This generation sold like hotcakes and reinvigorated a sleepy market that had forgotten how great Mustangs truly are. If you look at the Bullitt Mustang and can't see its appeal, maybe you should think about taxicabs and subways.

    Sixth Generation

Lastly, the newest age of Ford Mustangs is the Sixth Generation. The Sixth Generations were first produced in 2014 and are still going strong in 2017. This is the lucky generation that helped welcome the arrival of The Mustang's 50th anniversary. An even that took place in Charlotte, North Carolina and Las Vegas, Nevada. To celebrate this momentous occasion, Ford cranked out another solid addition to its legendary line. With such goodies as fully independent rear suspension and  direct injected four cylinder engine, Sixth Generation stands up nicely to past models.
